Like everyone, I had/have an immense respect for May Wang and am deeply grateful for her training.
But like so many, I did like to play a little game with her, especially since I had a professional background in writing and speaking.
Her teaching was so exacting, her expectations of details so precise, her penchant for correcting every little detail so renowned, that I often liked to do alternative pronunciations during my presentations to her. An example was when I described an infant as inconsolable, but accenting the 2nd instead of the 3rd syllable. This became an ongoing "error" in my presentation, until she had me do a personal research project on the only truly correct pronunciation.
